A Faceful of Graphite
February 16, 2017 – The word on the street is that there’s a new kid headed for Skincare town, and her name is Graphite. If pencils immediately come to mind when you hear “graphite”, then it’s time to change up your views on this beneficial mineral. Listen up!
So why is graphite “all that”?
Graphite is a form of carbon that occurs as a mineral. When graphite is heated, and therefore activated, is when the magic really happens. The carbon product begins to develop pores that not only increase the surface area exponentially, but also absorb toxins incredibly efficiently. Activated charcoal can absorb up to 200 times its weight in toxins and chemicals, which works wonders for our skin.
Activated charcoal is all the rage these days. We read about it in magazines and blog posts; we see it featured in our favorite stores. But what if I told you that activated charcoal has been used in cosmetics for centuries, and it’s about to get taken into the nanotech future with graphite products that are engineered for specific uses?
What I’m saying is, what we do with charcoal now for cosmetic purposes, we can do with graphite, but even better.
Walk into any beauty store and you’ll find activated charcoal based products (charcoal toothpastes, cleansers, masks, and so on). We think there’s an opportunity to see these same products, but with “graphite” in the name, and with graphite additives that have been engineered for each specific product.
A graphite facial could very well be in your not too distant future…and you will look marvelous!
